About

Lucia Felici is an Associated professor of Early Modern History (History of the Reformation and Counter-Reformation) at the University of Florence (Dipartimento di Studi storici e geografici). 

Her research field is the cultural and social history of Early Modern Europe. The main strands of my research are the history of tolerance and of religious non conformity in Europe, and Erasmism and the circulation of people and ideas through studying cultural and charitable institutions. She also studies the practice of travelling. Recently, her research interests have turned to the emergence of a new cultural approach towards Islam in Europe in the Sixteenth Century.

She is the "Directeur d’études associé" at the Fondation Maison Sciences de l’homme, EHESS, Paris (2012–); a member of the scientific advisory board of «Studi e testi per la storia religiosa del Cinquecento», Olschki, Florence, directed by prof. Antonio Rotondò (2007–) and the Director of the series Riforma radicale for the publishing house Claudiana, Turin (2010-)

She promoted and organised the "Laboratorio di Storia moderna" at the Department of Historical and Geographical Studies, where she gave several talks: Lo sguardo dell’altro: il problema della tolleranza nell’Europa moderna (October 2003); Dalla Riforma radicale all’Illuminismo radicale. Aspetti e figure della storia del pensiero critico nell’Europa moderna(March 2005); L’eredità di Erasmo. La diffusione dell’erasmismo in Europa nei secoli XVI-XVIII   (March 2006); Viaggi e viaggiatori nell’Europa moderna (May 2008); Europa e Islam a confronto nell’età moderna (October 2008); Centri e forme della propaganda ereticale nell’Italia del Cinquecento (March 2010); La scrittura delle donne (April 2010); Recenti studi sull’Inquisizione romana (November 2010); La Riforma radicale (April 2012).
